Makhir Ginger

This is not commodity ginger. It is a rare high-altitude heirloom, cultivated for generations and valued locally for its remarkable potency and restorative properties.

For centuries, a small women-led farming community has safeguarded this ginger - an heirloom passed down through hands that know exactly when to harvest, how thin to slice, how long to dry.

A diverse variety of pumpkin & chayotes are nurtured alongside ING Makhir plants. Khasi mandarins & maize are scattered across the farm, while pomelos & tamarillos are grown on the periphery.

Only farmyard manure is added to the already fertile mountain soil of West Jaintia Hills. Abundant rainfall and an exceptional micro-climate makes Makhir Ginger one of a kind.
